Go for Skype.

AoF's Discovery branch will use Skype. It is better that we all use Skype.

However,we will continue to have a presence on XFire.
Maybe for some other game we will use XFire. For those who want to join AoF on Xfire please contact Titan.(There is a block on Portal that shows AoF presence on XFire. If you already have a Xfire account then you should join AoF on Xfire.)

I can add a password and this server for the channel. This server is new and has only 75 users. I am trying to help a friend get more users... I believe it is aged 2-3 years old and my friend is losing users and wants to continue his channel... All channels are free and unlimited. You can name a bot that adds you to the admin when you return to your channels.

Skype is good but for those who don't and can't download IRC is completely downloadable free. So you can communicate with players other that AoF people and invite them in.

Ok I have made the changes.

You can see a link to the IRC Chat server and Skype download link below the Xfire info.

I request that the leaders of Ikariam branch create its own Skype channel/group and create a new thread where all members can post their usernames so that they can be added to the AoF Ikariam Skype group/channel.
The link to this thread will then be given on the Portal.

AoF Disco branch will do the same.

Wow too many chat servers....which one should i use??

Ahh why is everything so complicated....perhaps bcoz i started school after 3 years not being in one......................

Now im torn in which one to use....Toad's or Skype?? I must choose one standard comms platform.

Maybe just stick with Xfire?? WARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

my vote is still skype - if anyone wants to log in there you can find my name under konstanttrubble and invite me to be your friend (sighhhhh, I need friends LOL) - toad and I have both logged in there, and I have been into toad's too (sorry toad, I still prefer skype though)

Whatever we do, we need to know which one so as not to be totally confused, or it will be worse than not having any and just using in-game!!!

Important that we agree a chat forum before war is declared, so we can use it and make sure we all understand it (I am not too bright when it comes to this stuff, so I have to get used to anything new!!!)

I have personally liked the xfire, but I do understand about members not seeing entire chats if they come in late.

So is skype pretty self-explanitory? Xfire was kinda hard to get used to... in some aspects.

Well Skype is quite simple and straightforward.

Do it this way-
We have 3 communication platforms or channels.
Have a Primary Channel and a Secondary Channel.

Secondary Channel could be used in case Primary is not working or the Primary takes too much time.

Toad's IRC is really good for emergency,on the spot communication. Like say somebody is in immediate need of backup or assistance as he maybe losing a battle,so he can ask people online to use Toad's IRC ,discus & send info and send him troops to win the battle.
So IRC is good for tactical responses.

While Skype is good for long term planning or for strategic discussions as past conversations are saved in it.(Forums are also good for strategic discussions like the way you guys are discussing your war plans here)

XFire is good for games like Black Prophecy imo.

We need all the three but need to use them differently.
